What is scoliosis?
Scoliosis is a condition causing a sideways curve of the spine. Curves are often S- or C-shaped. In most people, there is no known cause for this curve.
Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis is diagnosed in children between the ages of 10 and 18. This condition is characterized by a lateral (side to side) curvature of the spine with a Cobb angle of 10 degrees or more. It is the most common type of idiopathic scoliosis, accounting for approximately 80% of all pediatric cases.
